DA VINCI® GYNECOLOGIC SURGERY – MIAMI

When other treatments aren’t effective, the recommendation for surgery may be made by your physician if you have been diagnosed with fibroid tumors, endometriosis, excessive menstrual bleeding, pelvic prolapse, or cancer. Gynecologic surgery is generally performed using either traditional open surgery or minimally invasive surgery.

OPEN SURGERY

During an abdominal hysterectomy (open surgery), your uterus is removed through a large and long open incision. The incision must be large enough for your surgeon to insert instruments while visualizing the surgical procedure through that same incision. To perform a hysterectomy, there are two common approaches to the incision. Horizontal, and vertical incisions.

MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY

Laparoscopy – With traditional laparoscopy, your surgeon operates through a few small incisions in the abdomen or pelvis. The surgeon utilizes a thin, lighted tube and camera to guide a surgical procedure. It is additionally used to view the organs and inspect or diagnose gynecology oncology conditions or perform surgery.

DA VINCI® SURGERY

da Vinci Multi-Port Surgery – Minimally invasive da Vinci surgery is an excellent option if you are considering gynecologic surgery. da Vinci surgeons operate through a few small incisions instead of a long, large incision. This process is similar to traditional laparoscopy. The da Vinci system provides your obstetrics gynecologic surgeon with a three dimensional, high definition view inside your body. da Vinci employs special, miniature wristed instruments that bend and rotate to a greater degree than the human wrist. As a result, da Vinci enables your surgeon to operate with enhanced sigh, accuracy, and control.

Medical Robotics

State-of-the-art da Vinci uses surgical and robotic technology for both routine, and complex procedures. Your doctor of surgical oncology controls the da Vinci system, which exchanges their hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of the tiny instruments inside of your body. Without the surgeon, the system cannot operate on its own.

da Vinci Single-Site Surgery – Your uterus can also be removed through a small incision in your belly button with a single incision made in a single site. This procedure provides results with virtually no scarring. da Vinci Single-Site hysterectomy is available for benign (non-cancerous) conditions as well.
